On November 23-24, our school’s Model United Nations(MUN)team attended the XMUNC (The MUN competition at Southwest Weiyu Middle School). It was the first time for most of us to attend a MUN competition. On the morning of November 23, we met at Southwest Weiyu Middle School. We talked about the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation, the North Korean nuclear issue, and the Malvinas Islands issue. During the first session, we were a little bit nervous because it was our first competition and we had no idea what to do during the competition. However, under the guidance of the presidium, we made a lot of progress in the next three sessions.

At the end of November 24, we signed the draft resolution, which is the outcome document reached by the participants through voting. It reflects the basic consensus reached by the participants on relevant issues, as well as the suggestions, opinions and action plans put forward to solve the problem. After the fourth session, it was the closing ceremony. At that ceremony, the presidium gave us a summary of each issue and presented awards. William Chen from 10C won a prize for our school. He won an honorable mention because he is confident, delightful, and polite. He was the only one who won a prize for our school and all the team members were very happy when he got the prize. In February and March, we will attend BCMUN (The MUN competition at Shanghai Tianyuan senior middle school) and PHMUNC (at Shanghai Private Pinghe Middle School). We all hope that more and more people will join the MUN and that we will get more prizes in the future.
