On October 30th, our School Sports Day was held at Luwan Stadium, which is a place near the famous ASE Shopping Mall. It is not a new thing for Nanmo students since having an annual Sports Day is one of our school’s traditions. Many of us look forward to this event every year, not only because we could have a one-day break from our studies, but also because of the excitement of competing with others.

Students were asked to arrive at the Stadium at 7 A.M. Although the weather was colder than before, most of us made it on time. The first thing we were going to do wasn’t to start the competition immediately but to have an opening ceremony. Every class had 30 seconds for their performance and every Nanmo class participated in this ceremony. After the performance, the Chinese national flag rose up slowly, followed by the morning exercises. The playground welcomed almost 1000 students and gave the audience a grand view.

After the exercises, the competitions finally started. There were various kinds of sports that students could choose to compete in, such as high jump, long jump, 100-meter sprint, etc.  The most popular one was called the 4 x 100 relay. Just as its name, 4 people were chosen in each class, and raced with other competitors from different classes. Since it was all about class honours, people were extremely excited and tried their best. Just after the starting gun went off, people started cheering and the runners hurried to the finish line. It was very encouraging.

The Sports Meeting came to the end with the National flag coming down the pole. Students had a great time either competing with others or cheering for competitors. It was a very memorable experience for everyone.
