Every September, new students come to Nanmo and are going to spend their next three years in the NBC program. For most of them, the BC courses mark the start of their new adventure. The first few weeks are especially challenging for them because this is a brand new education system. Jessie Ni from 10A shared some of her experiences in Nanmo so far. She said the BC classes are a lot different from her middle school, including getting used to taking classes and doing homework in English. In addition, the teaching style of the BC teachers is different than what she was used to. When Jessie was in middle school, her teacher spent most of time lecturingand the class did not provide students opportunities to participate. In BC classes, every student gets a chance to cooperate with one another and does group work together. The teachers encourage students to develop critical thinking skills which are very beneficial for their life. Jessie feels that every class discussion makes her relationship with her classmates closer and they are also taking their steps to become good listeners.

NBC program also provides students with a wide range of activities, such as the sports program here. Those extra-curriculums encourage students to become more involved and meet new people that are outside their grades in the school community. Ultimate Frisbee has caught Jessie’s attention and now she is trying this sport. The reason that she wants to play frisbee is because she thinks this is a really cool sport, especially when people throw the disc. As a matter of fact, she decided to give a try. At first, playing frisbee was rather challenging for her because sometimes she felt like she has two left feet. The more she practices, the better she gets at Ultimate Frisbee. After lunch, she usually spends time playing frisbee with her friends and has great fun. Her experience at the NBC program has been great so far. Not only Ultimate Frisbee, NBC program also provides students with other sports, like hockey, basketball and soccer. Every student can join and participate in the wonderful sports program here. Hopefully everyone will have a great school year!
