On December 20th, our school had a Christmas assembly. On that day, we had a lot of exciting activities. The students from the art department organized and prepared for the whole assembly with Ms. Fortin’s help. They chose the story of The Nutcracker as the theme. They made the entire party looked like in the Nutcracker’s girl’s dream. The Nutcracker took the girl to our party in her dream. This made all of us feel surprised and everyone thought it was an awesome idea. At the assembly, there were many amazing performances. In the beginning, our school folk band played a traditional Chinese song. While listening to this song, we could feel that we were in a dream that was bringing us into the theme of this assembly. Even more surprisingly, Mr. Dyck and Mr. Sutherland sang a Chinese song with two students and we were amazed by their excellent Chinese skills. During the assembly, there were also many interesting games such as “The Mystery Gift” (blindfolded people had to touch and guess what gift was in them) and “Throw the Christmas Hat” (participants used their head to throw Christmas hats). At the end of the assembly, Mr. Hillian and Ms. Bayton sang the famous Christmas song “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” and Mr. Hillian even played the guitar. When the music started, everyone got excited. The assembly ended in a happy atmosphere. Although the assembly was only one hour, all of the students and the teachers enjoyed it. We are already looking forward to having more interesting games and performances at our next Christmas assembly, but we’ll have to wait until next year!
