Ms. Xu is a new teacher at Nanmo, teaching Anatomy & Physiology 12, Chemistry 11, Science 10 as well as Career Life Education 10. Her academic background is stunning. After finishing NEMT, she pursued her study in Canada. She graduated from the University of British Columbia with a degree in Mathematics, which is fundamental to science courses like chemistry and biology. She had abundant experience working in the laboratory researching cancer. Since Ms. Xu had taken computer science, she also had work experience in software development.  After finishing her graduate program in education, Ms. Xu started her career as a teacher, focusing on science and biology, and her professional experience was further enhanced by her internship as a teacher in Semiahmoo Secondary School in Vancouver, Canada, teaching Maths 10, Science 10 and Maths 12. Besides, she is an IB certificated teacher.

Although majoring in science, Ms. Xu is also interested in politics and international relationships around the world. Her favourite dessert is a Canadian signature ginger ice-cream in Toronto. Even though she is allergic to coffee, she drinks it very often. She said that “I drink coffee with pain” (Xu, 2021). Ms. Xu also loves animals, especially cats and dogs. She has three cats at home. She is also a skillful trainer since she once trained monkeys while working in a laboratory of a neuroscience institution.

In recent times, Ms. Xu is mainly responsible for science courses at Nanmo, where she is happy to be a teacher. Also, she comments that Nanmo students are clever, and the class average there is higher than her expectation. Students who take her courses also hold Ms. Xu in high regard:

Stella Shao from Chemistry 11: Ms. Xu is an elegant and responsible teacher who delivers lessons that are easy to understand. She is my favorite teacher.

Crystal Zhu from Anatomy & Physiology 12: Ms. Xu is kind and pretty with strong teaching skills. I like her so much. She made me fall in love with this course.

That’s all for the new Nanmo teacher of science, Wilma Xu. If you want to get more information about Ms. Xu, find her at the office on the fourth floor or take her courses next year!
