In the year 2021, Nanyang Model Private High welcomes a new teacher, Mr. Ruelle, who comes all the way from Vancouver, BC, Canada. Based on the interview he has done with me, I would like to share this is some interesting facts about him.
For now, Mr. Ruelle is currently teaching several courses, from drama 10 to physics 12, which seem to be unrelated but are well-covered by him. As a teacher, Mr. Ruelle enjoys solving mathematic problems, just like many other brilliant minds. Also, Mr. Ruelle loves sports in his spare time. Like many Canadians, he has been a hockey enthusiast for years. Just here in China, he has done several group games across many provinces. This hobby not only provides him with fitness but also a positive mind.
Mr. Ruelle is very experienced in teaching, especially to Chinese students, since he spent nearly his entire education career in China for around 15 years. For the record, NMPH is the 6th school he has resided. Besides Shanghai, he had been a teacher in Wuhan and Dalian. He is impressively professional and flexible when it comes to teaching different categories (from the middle school content to IELTS and AP Calculus).
Graduated from UBC (undergraduate) and U of Waterloo (master), Mr. Ruelle takes the most interest in physics. As a doer, he does believe that people learn most about this subject from labs instead of books.
Approximately 20 years ago, Mr. Ruelle made his way to China, and he soon found this place adequately attractive. He sees here as a place with “a lot of lives and interesting people”. For all these years he has stayed in China, he has witnessed a wide range of changes in his life; from the time when he could hardly find a coffee shop to now, he can see more coffee shops than he does in Canada.
Another fun fact is that he had taught in NMPH 6 years ago. He liked the length of the lunch break and the diligent students here. In fact, he recalls the time spent in NMPH to be his “best teaching experience in China”. He is now looking forward to spending more time with this school again, and I believe he won’t be disappointed.
