Students were back to school to welcome the new semester after the period of online classes. On the morning of February 17, all grades held their Awards Ceremony, which was hosted by Mr. MacLachlan, the BC principal.
During the ceremony, BC teachers presented Core Competency and the Waterloo Math Contest Awards. Students have actively devoted all their effort and positive attitude into learning and improving. In Nanmo’s BC program, “core competency” is much more significant than only grades. It comprises intellectual, personal, social and emotional proficiencies that all students need in order to engage in deep, lifelong learning. The Core Competency Awards have four categories, including “Communication and Collaboration”, “Creative and Critical Thinking”, “Personal Awareness and Responsibility”and“Social Awareness and Responsibility.”

The Waterloo Math Contest is a world class math contest, and has comprehensive affect in improving students’ qualifications.
The last Waterloo Math Contest involved over 8000 schools from all over the globe. G10 from our school rated 21st, G11 and G12 rated 9th.
