The 2019 BCOS Basketball Tournament took place on November 27th– 28th. This time, the girls’ team won the second place and the boys’ team won fourth place. Both teams went to Sino Canada High School for this 2-day tournament. A total of eight teams took part in the competition
Due to the outstanding rank that the girls’ team had earned, which is No.1 from all the previous 4 matches, Nanmo’s girls’ team was approved to go straight to the semi-finals. This meant the first day was only boys’ battlefield, with the team from Maple Leaf Shanghai. The boys won the match by three points because the two teams were about equal in strength. The game was kept in a high tension for both teams all the time. It is worth mentioning that two minutes before the end of the game, while the score was still 59:59, Kevin Wang did a wonderful 3-point shot that broke the tie in the last one minutes and applause from all the Nanmo Lions could be heard all over the court. The final score was 59:62. Later, a celebratory dinner was held for all BCOS teams that were present, which brought lots of laughter and fun for the teams. Some of the members were lucky enough to win a prize during the game session.
After one night of rest in the hotel near the court, both boys’ and girls’ teams were ready to usher their semi-final and final game. The first game was Nanmo’s girls’ team versus Maple Leaf Zhengjiang. The same situation happened as the boys’ game the day before. The first half of the game did not meet our expectations. Fortunately, the girls found their collaboration as they used to have and won the game, with the result of 14:17. When the boys were back on the court, the Lions lost their game, which was a huge hit to the team. The following two games were the girls’ finals and play-offs for 3rd place for boys. Unfortunately, although both teams worked really hard and tried their very best, neither of them won.
Since basketball is never a one-person fight, no matter what the results were, the collaborative experience was the most unforgettable and valuable thing for all the players. Most importantly, the great collaboration among team members was what our Nanmo Lions showed on the court at all times. We hope Nanmo Lions will keep their spirit of solidarity, keep the great teamwork and fight for another success!
