If someone asks me which is the most interesting club in our school, I will definitely say Physics Contest Club. This club is taught by Mr. Ruelle. The main content of the club is the knowledge of Canadian and American Physics competitions. The general teaching time is Friday afternoon. This course is suitable for students who are interested in Physics and have the energy to study it because the contents are more and deeper than grade 11 Physics.

Although we only attended one Physics Club, we can know that the whole course was relaxing and interesting. Mr. Ruelle encouraged us to stimulate our interest in Physics and study the Physics Contest topics in a relaxed state. In the first lesson, Mr. Ruelle showed us two websites about Physics competitions and highlighted one of them: the PhysicsBowl. Mr. Ruelle opened up the PhysicsBowl of 2021 and asked us to try out the first few problems. Many of us had never studied Physics competitions before, so we found it hard to do them. After a while, Mr. Ruelle wrote down the answers to the first few questions and the formulas we had to memorize in those questions on the blackboard. We understood the charm and ingenuity of Physics from these simple competition questions. After the first class, our interest was aroused, and we were willing to continue to study the Physics competition topic, and treat it as fun, rather than study pressure.

All in all, this club is not only interesting, but also challenging. When many students in our school thought grade 11 Physics was too easy, they were able to take this Physics contest club. Not only that, the content of this course is very useful for students who want to apply for science in the future because it can train students’ logical thinking ability for physical problems, which is also very helpful for their future study. Below are two students’ comments on this club. “The content of physics extension course is very deep, the teacher’s teaching style is very interesting, and the rhythm is right so that people of all levels can follow, we strongly recommend students who like Physics to go to Physics in-depth research.” (Brian Gao) “I really enjoyed this course. Physics is a difficult subject, but Mr. Ruelle’s teaching is very interesting. He will stimulate students’ interest in physics. The class atmosphere is also very good. This course is not only suitable for physics enthusiasts, but also for those who are not good at Physics. This is a good opportunity to improve yourself.” (Roy Shen) Therefore, this club is well worth pursuing excellent students.
