On November 4, all the students and faculty of Nanmo held the annual Terry Fox Run at the East Campus. In honor of Terry Fox’s “Marathon of Hope” for cancer research, the event started with a jog around the playground and the school building. Although the weather was already a bit cooler, our enthusiasm was unstoppable. In the warm sunshine of the afternoon, all the students and foreign teachers ran together with smiles on everyone’s faces. Members of the photography club were also on the playground to capture the beauty of youth.

After 20 minutes, all the students and teachers gathered in front of the platform drenched in sweat, and the event entered the second and most anticipated process – the water balloon throw. Students who bought a 2022 Terry Fox promotional T-shirt and made a donation to the event were given a chance to throw a water balloon. As an old Nanmo tradition, students were asked to pick a foreign teacher they were eager to throw at the most and throw as hard as they could. With the sound of joyful waves of laughter and water splashing, the atmosphere reached its climax. After the intense exercise, the water balloon activity brought us a burst of refreshment.

It was the day after midterm exams, and sports brought the most genuine joy. No doubt, the Terry Fox Run became the best way to release stress. Happy times are always short, and although the event was only held for one afternoon, the unique memories will surely be unforgettable for all of us.

Let’s look forward to next year’s Terry Fox Run together!
